Alexey Mukhin

Director General of the Centre for Political Information
Alexey Mukhin was born on February 14, 1971 in Moscow.
In 1995 he graduated from the Moscow State Institute for History and Archives (known as the Russian State University for the Humanities since 1991) as “historian and archivist”. He majored in Russian History of different periods.
In 1989-1991 Alexey Mukhin served in the Armed Forces of the USSR.

From May 1992 to January 1996 he worked in the information and research center Panorama as a researcher.

In January 1996, being a part of a group of experts Alexey Mukhin set up the Service for Political Information and Consultation - Center (SPIC-Center), an independent research organization and information agency, and took the position of Executive Director (later – Director).

Since January 1997 he has been Director General of the Centre for Political Information (Moscow).

Mr. Mukhin is an author of over 100 scientific papers, including monographs in the field of political science and history of Russia.
In 2002, as the editor-in-chief Mr. Mukhin issued an Internet- magazine FEC (Facts, Events, Comments).

From September, 2004 to September, 2005 he led a special course “Information wars” at the Russian State Social University; in 2012, he became an Associate Professor of the Russian State University for the Humanities.

Mr. Mukhin is a columnist of Echo of Moscow, Slon.ru, RBC-daily, Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Argumenti Nedeli (Arguments of the Week). Alexey Mukhin’s comments on current political and economic developments are regularly cited by the leading national and international media, such as Spiegel, The New York Times, Le Figaro, France 24, Deutsche Welle, Kommersant, Vedomosti, RBC-daily, Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Expert, Profile, Izvestia, Channel One, Russia today, Channel 5, Business FM, Finam FM, Kommersant FM, Echo of Moscow and many others.
Alexey Mukhin is a participant of the Valdai club.
He is a participant of the annual World Economic Forum in Krynica (Poland).
He is a member of the Association of Historians of intelligence services.
Mr. Mukhin is President of the Federation of Development of Aikido Ren Wa Kai. He holds the Fourth Dan of Aikido.
Spheres of his professional interests include:
  • political analysis (analysis of political processes);
  • formation, behavior, and psychology of elites;
  • the military reform and the reform of the Russian intelligence services;
  • state agencies and the administrative reform in the Russian Federation;
  • national security;
  • economic risks;
  • organized crime.

Alexey Mukhin’s hobbies include Oriental philosophy, psychology, world religions.
